When is Prime Day in Canada?
The eighth annual Prime Day 2022 was on July 12-13 in both Canada and the US and ran for 48 hours starting at starting at 12 AM midnight pacific time (PDT) or 3 AM eastern (EST). It was announced less than a month before on June 16.
The dates for 2023 have yet to be announced, but will likely be in mid-July.
Held for the first time on July 15, 2015, Amazon’s Prime Day is an annual worldwide two-day sales event exclusively available to Amazon Prime members that takes place in July.
It is the 4th most popular sales day of the year in Canada after Black Friday, Boxing Day, and Cyber Monday.
Taking advantage of the continued success of their original Prime Day, Amazon will hold a second two-day international sales event exclusive to Prime members for the first time in 2022.
The Prime Early Access Sale (informally referred to as Prime Day 2) will be held on October 11 and 12 in Canada – between the original Prime Day and Black Friday.

The sale was held as a one-day event from 2015 to 2017 and was extended to a two-day event in 2018 and onwards.
It is typically held in mid-July, but the exception of 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and 2021, when it was cancelled in Canada due to rising COVID-19 cases.

What deals are available?
The specific products that will be on sale on Prime Day are not announced until after the event starts, and even then they are not all announced at the same time. Amazon drops new deals at regular intervals throughout the 48 hour period. Amazon usually releases a sneak peek before each event.
Prime Day typically offers the lowest prices of the year on Amazon’s own devices including Fire tablets and TVs, Echo smart speakers and Ring doorbells and cameras.

How to access the sale?
If you want to access the deals, you have to be a Prime member. Here are the options:
- Amazon Prime: Free 30-day trial, then $9.99 per month or $99 per year
- Amazon Prime Student: Free 6 month trial, then $4.99 per month or $49 per year
Used the free trial in the past? You can start a new free trial again as long as you haven’t been an Amazon Prime member at any time within the last 12 months. This can be done every 12 months. This does not apply to Prime Student.
